Introduction
If you’ve been following my posts on PlayStation Plus you’ll know that last Christmas I received a PlayStation Plus subscription for the year. Since then I’ve had the opportunity to play some excellent games and receive further discounts on others.
In recent months, I’ve become more aware of how each month’s games were being received by gamers. This got me wondering about just how the games are chosen each month. In an effort to try and understand this mystical process, I’ve been keeping track of the various stats of games each month since January 2019.
Below you can see all of the result of my madness put together into a table.
Below that then you will also find some nice charts which provides a visual representation of these stats.
PlayStation Plus Stats Table
This is the overall table with all of the facts and figures that I’ve gathered together over the last year.
I’ll be continuing to update this for the rest of the year so don’t worry about that.
If you’ve read my PlayStation Plus summary posts each month you’ll see some of the recurring figures I like to note. You’ll find most of those in this table and in the charts below.

Average cost of games on PlayStation Plus
From looking at the chart above it looks as though the average cost of games each month is pretty inconsistent. This likely has no baring on the choice of games, though that’s just an educated guess.
Even with that in mind, it’s still interesting to see the fluctuation in price of these games each month.
Average Metacritic rating of PlayStation Plus games
As you can see from the chart above, the Metacritic rating rarely veers below 70 / 75 out of 100. This is pretty consistent and almost surprising to see.
I would have thought it might make sense to try to reignite some games that may have not been very well received initially. At least this year anyway, this does not seem to be the case.
Average completion rate on PSN Profiles
OK, I highly doubt the PSN Profiles completion rate is something that is considered when selecting the PlayStation Plus games.
With that said though this is something I thought would be interesting to track just for my own amusement. Why not sure.
As you can plainly see from the chart above, this is a pretty sporadic value each month.
Conclusion
So what do you think? Can you decipher anything from these facts and figures?
Can you maybe even predict next month’s games?
Let me know what you think of all this as I’d love to hear your opinion.
I’m also considering adding another section for the average age of games to see how old these games are when they’re selected for PlayStation Plus.
Let me know if you can think of any other worthwhile stats that would make sense to track!
