PlayStation Plus Games
The new line up of PlayStation Plus games for August is here. Another varied selection of games this month and the amount of content contained within these will likely keep gamers entertained for a long time. As always let’s take a look at these games and how they compare to previous months.
August’s PlayStation Plus Games
The two games offered this month are:
- WipEout Omega Collection
- Sniper Elite 4
These 2 games are valued at €104.98 (which is a considerable increase in value from last month), but are free for you PlayStation Plus subscribers this month.
WipEout Omega Collection
WipEout Omega Collection is the first game in the line up. This package combines WipEout 2048, WipEout HD and the HD Fury expansion together giving you tons of racing potential. The WipEout series is a fast paced, anti-grav racing game that sees you race around vibrant sci-fi inspired tracks in an effort to beat the competition.
Something unique about this game this month is that it is VR compatible. This makes me wonder if this could this be a hint at more VR games in the future. I guess we will have to just wait and see.
Price before PS Plus
- This game has 35 trophies that you can earn
- Average Completion: 8%
- Platinum Achievers: 2.43%
- WipEout Omega Collection – PSN Profiles
Overall this seems like a pretty good comprehensive racing game. I just wonder if the timing was a little off seeing as Horizon Chase Turbo was yet another racing game on PlayStation Plus just last month.
Sniper Elite 4
The second game this month is Sniper Elite 4. This game is a third person shooter that will test your metal as a sniper tasked with infiltrating enemy bases and taking out high profile targets. Sniper Elite 4 is the most expensive game I have seen on the PlayStation Plus list since getting my Plus membership.
Price before PS Plus
77/100 – Sniper Elite 4 – Metacritic
- This game has 51 trophies that you can earn in the base game
- Average Completion: 17%
- Platinum Achievers: 7.92%
- Sniper Elite 4 – PSN Profiles
This definitely isn’t a game I would rush out an buy so I am actually quite intrigued by Sniper Elite 4. From what I have seen of the gameplay it looks quite entertaining and well crafted. This looks like a solid game to me so I am looking forward to playing it.
Conclusions and Observations
Overall, I would probably say this is another steady month for PlayStation Plus. The caliber of these games is pretty high as far as Metacritic score and price are concerned. Additionally these are two very different types of games which keeps things varied.
Though I’ll be honest and say racing games aren’t my first choice, but I will try it out to see if it can change my mind.
That’s the fun thing about PlayStation Plus for me, trying out games you wouldn’t normally look twice at. As someone jumping back into gaming after a pretty long absence, being exposed to different types of games is pretty fun and enjoyable for me.
PlayStation Plus Monthly Stats
I’ve decided to start doing things a little differently for this month and beyond. I am particularly interested in the trends associated with the PlayStation Plus lineup each month so I am starting to track that here. This will allow me to build up some good data on this in the months to come to be able to make note and talk about these trends in future posts.
