My PlayStation Hits January Update

If you enjoyed this article why not share it?

Welcome to the first of what will hopefully be many of the My PlayStation Hits updates. This is the My PlayStation Hits January update as the title suggests.

If you’re not familiar with the My PlayStation Hits challenge, it’s a challenge that I’ve set myself for 2020. I’m aiming to complete all of the games in the PlayStation Hits Europe collection.

Let’s get started!

Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2

The first game I finished this month was Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2.

Going For The Platinum

This is a game where I actually had finished the story but I hadn’t gotten the platinum. So I decided to spend some time this month actually getting the platinum.

It was an interesting experience because all of the trophies that were left to unlock were all multiplayer trophies. This required someone else to complete these trophies with me. This was a bit challenging for me with someone with not too many PlayStation friends.

Some helpful advice I would have is to go to If you sign up there you can take part in gaming sessions or post your own.

This was my first time ever doing this and it was an interesting experience. It obviously worked out well for me because I got the platinum in the end. So with that in mind, it’s definitely something I would recommend if you’re struggling with multiplayer trophies.

Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 – Story & Gameplay

As far as the game itself is concerned, I found this really fun and enjoyable like a lot of other Dragon Ball Z games I’ve played in the past. However, what was quite different with this game was the different perspective that the story takes on the tried and true DBZ anime.

You play as a time patroller where time can be altered. This can create completely alternate versions of events that happened in the DBZ canon. I can honestly say that I found this really interesting and it kept me engaged throughout the entire story.

I did note that there was a lot of grinding towards the end of trying to get all trophies. You are required to do lots of collecting, lots of types of matches including those online.

It was a bit tedious towards the end in this regard but I think it was definitely worth the grinding. I’m proud to have the platinum for this game and would highly recommend it.

Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 4

The next game that I moved onto was Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 4.

I decided to play this game next because it didn’t have a very long time to beat. With that in mind, I thought it would be a quick win so to speak.

It turned out that the story mode was pretty quick to complete. With that said though, the game does have a lot of replay-ability and there is a lot to do if you want to complete the game 100%.

What Is Happening?

In terms of the story of this game, you just seem to be placed right into a battle at the start of the game without too much of an explanation.

Now I should mention at this point that I’ve never watched the Naruto anime so I was coming into this pretty cold. Shame on me I know.

Not only that, but this is Ultimate Ninja Storm 4, which more than likely isn’t the first game in the series, so having not played the other 3 games was another disadvantage for me.

Perhaps if I had watched the anime and was more familiar with Naruto then maybe I would have been more engaged with it.

This sort of reminds me of Dragon Ball Xenoverse in a way. I’m a big huge fan of Dragon Ball Z so I definitely want to play any and all of these kinds of games. As I’ve played so many of these games and watched the anime, I know almost everything there is to know about this world. Because of that, I don’t need much hand-holding to get into the game. I’m imagining this is what playing the Naruto games is like to those that love Naruto.

In my case, unfortunately, this game just may have gone over my head. With that said, it’s definitely a series that I would like to get into. This might be something for me to check into in the future.

The next game that I tried to play, note that I used the word try, was Doom. This is the PS4 game that was released in 2016.

This game started out really well in my opinion, I had no idea what exactly was going on but I was totally on board for all of the guns and action.

Motion Sickness Hell

To my absolute dismay, after about 5 to 10 minutes I noticed myself feeling incredibly sick. It was almost like being car sick!! It ended up being so bad that I actually could not continue playing the game. This was really weird for me because I’ve never experienced anything like that before with a game. Especially considering how many games I’ve played over the years.

Feeling absolutely distraught, I did some research and found a really interesting video that describes the cause of this motion sickness and what you can do to ease the worst of the symptoms.

It simply describes some of the game settings to look out for and tweak to improve your gaming experience.

Basically, because Doom is a first-person game, your brain is trying to make the connection between what is seeing on screen and the stimulus relating to it. So that and the rapid movement of the screen are all combined to give you this terrible motion sickness. Sad Times!!

Now, I don’t think everyone that played this game would have suffered from motion sickness, otherwise, the game would have totally bombed. It might just be something that affects people in different ways.

If you’re experiencing something similar I would highly recommend checking out that video as it’ll give you some tips to ease your motion sickness.

Taking on board some of the tips and advice mentioned in that video has helped me with this game but honestly, I haven’t really played it as much. I’m actually kind of reluctant to go back to it, but it’s something that I probably will go back to in smaller chunks to see how I get on.

While I have played this game this month, I haven’t completed it so it’s still on the to be completed list.

Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection

Moving right along to the Uncharted Series which is the next game or set of games I’ve been playing.

If you follow me on Instagram, you know that I’ve been posting about this a lot recently but I’m playing through The Nathan Drake Collection. This is the first three games of the Uncharted series.

I had played the first game for quite a while but I found myself getting bogged down in getting the platinum trophy. This meant that my progress towards completing these games was pretty slow.

By changing my mindset to simply completing the games without trying to get the platinum I’m making my way through them a lot faster. In fact, I’ve finished Uncharted 1, Uncharted 2 and have almost finished Uncharted 3. I would highly recommend these games if you’re interested in seeing what PlayStation has to offer. It is definitely a good choice for the PlayStation Hits collection of games without a doubt.

The only slight disadvantage for me is that while this might be one physical game, technically it’s actually three games in one so I have still not finished it.

With that said, I hope to finish it in February so I can then either move onto Uncharted 4 or a different game. We’ll see how things go.

Story So Far – PlayStation Hits January

So far I’ve found the My PlayStation Hits gaming challenge to be great to have set for myself. This is because a lot of the games on the list like Naruto are games I would have never picked up and played.

I’m glad this is getting me out of my comfort zone to play games I wouldn’t normally play and see how they are.

I’ve done challenges like this before that involve playing lots of games and there are definitely games that I know that I won’t be going back to. However, that’s part of the fun of it. At least I tried it and now I know this game isn’t for me.
